Friday, Jan. 21: Fashion Night Out: January Clothing Swap

Trek over to Silver Spring, grab a bite to eat at Eggspectation and don’t forget to bring some gently used clothing for Fashion’s Night Out January clothing swap. Bring at least five clean clothing items or accessories to be swapped and leftover items will donated to Dress for Success. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 21: BSO's Off the Cuff: Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony

Relax from your busy week and enjoy Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony at Strathmore. Starting at 8:15 p.m. Marin Alsop will conduct the symphony conceived during the political unrest in 1930s Russia.

Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21-22: Eric Harley Schweitzer: Paintings & Works on Paper

Take in some art this weekend at the Waverly Street Gallery on East-West Highway. The gallery showcases the abstract figurative works of local artist Eric Harley Schweitzer. The gallery is opened from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 22: Super Gluten-Free Grains!

Have a gluten allergy or intolerance in the family? Learn to prepare a variety of gluten-free, high protein grains with Chef Monica Corrado. The class costs $55 in advance and $65 at the door. The class runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Silver Spring.

Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 22-23: School House Rock! Live! at The Arts Barn

Conjunction junction, what’s your function? Come on, I know you know the words (or at least that part, anyway). Bring the family to North Potomac to see the educational Emmy Award-winning 1970s cartoon come to life. The show starts at 2 p.m. each day.
